We helped Scottish Friendly, a 160-year-old financial society, take its first step onto the nation's screens.


Background

Scottish Friendly has been helping families build financial security since 1862 – but they had never appeared on TV. When they decided to launch their My Easy Choice ISA to a broader audience, they needed a campaign that could translate generations of trust into a modern, relatable message.

They came to Happy Hour to produce something that felt both credible and accessible: a first TV commercial worthy of the milestone.


Challenge

Financial advertising can easily tip into jargon, fear, or empty optimism. The challenge was to communicate genuine product value – market growth potential, a 10-year money-back guarantee, and real investor control – without overwhelming everyday families who are already uncertain about investing.

The message needed to be simple, honest, and confidence-building. Nothing more, nothing less.

Approach

We built the campaign around a single, grounding insight: for most people, investing isn't really about money – it's about feeling in control of tomorrow. That became the creative thread running through every frame.

The tone was kept warm and unhurried – a voice you trust rather than a pitch you endure. Visually, the spot centred on family life and the ordinary moments that make financial security feel real and worth planning for.

Deliverables

We produced a broadcast-ready TV commercial for Scottish Friendly from end to end – scripted, shot, and finished to air. The spot centred on the My Easy Choice ISA, communicating its key benefits through a clean, confidence-led narrative rather than a product checklist. For a society that has served families quietly for generations, this was a genuine landmark: their very first appearance on national television. We were proud to help them make it count.
